Members of the Hazara Shamama Association proudly attended Anzac Day commemorative services in both Berwick and Dandenong, joining hundreds of Australians in paying tribute to the brave servicemen and servicewomen who served and sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today.
Anzac Day holds a special place in Australia’s history and national identity. It is a day of reflection, remembrance, and gratitude - a time when communities come together to honour the courage, mateship, resilience, and selflessness demonstrated by generations of Australians who answered the call to serve their country.
As representatives of the Hazara Shamama Association, our members stood alongside veterans, community leaders, families, and people from diverse backgrounds to pay our deepest respects to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. The ceremonies in Berwick and Dandenong were powerful reminders of the enduring legacy of the Anzac spirit and the values of unity, compassion, and service that continue to shape Australian society.
For many within our community, particularly those who have experienced hardship, displacement, or conflict, Anzac Day carries a profound meaning. It reminds us of the importance of peace, freedom, dignity, and social cohesion. As a community built on resilience and appreciation for opportunity and safety, we recognise and deeply value the sacrifices made by those who defended these freedoms.
The Hazara Shamama Association believes that participating in events such as Anzac Day commemorations strengthens community connection and encourages future generations to remember and learn from history. It also reflects our commitment to being active contributors to the broader Australian community while honouring the shared values that unite us all.
We extend our gratitude to the organisers, veterans, volunteers, and everyone who participated in the commemorative services. Their dedication ensures that the stories and sacrifices of our servicemen and servicewomen continue to be remembered with honour and respect.
Today, and always, we remember those who served, those who sacrificed, and those who never returned home.
Lest We Forget.
